The test of feelings, a love triangle, strikes and labor unrest at his native plant are increasingly captivating the protagonist and lead to separation from his wife. Each foray into the factory barricades turns into misfortune, but neither persuasion, nor the arrival of his wife's sister from Moscow, nor the discord with a close friend can stop Valery.
