Synopsis

In 1940 Osaka, a celebrated shamisen performer lives fast as war and shifting tastes erode his fame. The daughter of a restaurant owner quietly loves him, but circumstances drive them apart. Years later, in a changed postwar city, they meet again amid the remains of their former lives.
