Yoshio, a timid young man with a weak stomach who works at a milk delivery shop, accidentally hits a dog while driving on a mountain road one night. As Yoshio panics in front of the dying dog, a local old man passing by helps him out. This marks the beginning of a night that will completely change Yoshio's outlook on life.
