Biography

Louise Antoinette Stratenus (1852-1908) was a Dutch writer. She already translated the children's book "L'île colibri" at the age of seven, and when she submitted a five-act play to a publisher at the age of twelve, she received a letter of encouragement in return. Whithin the family she was considered a genius. In 1876 the family settled in Breda. Louise Stratenus was now 24 years old, had literary ambitions and was forced to live at home as an unmarried daughter.
